What is the difference between Netbook, Notebook, and Nettop? This is a very common question arises in your mind. Many readers ask these types of questions from me and this inspires me to write this post. Now Firstly I will tell you the meaning of 3 N’s. The notebook is not a notepad but a new name of Laptop. For better understanding, you call them laptop notebooks. And Netbook is a smaller form of the laptop which performs all major function of a laptop.
This is the basic difference between 3 N’s for a novice, but if you are tech savvy then I think it is not sufficient for you. Let’s discuss them in detail. Notebook (Laptop) is a device with a keypad and a touchpad hinged with the screen. This device has all the features like CD drive, USB port, LAN port, VGA port with Hard disk of minimum 80 GB with at least 12-inch screen. You can use the notebook in your personal as well as official use. Many companies are providing Notebook i.e. Sony, Dell, HCL, Lenovo, HP, Toshiba, Acer, and ASUS. Usually, Laptop price range starts from $1000
Now come to 2nd N Notebook. The netbook is a small version of the laptop (Notebook). Mini laptop and Sub-notebook are some other names of Netbook. The idea behind a Netbook is to make the laptop handier and easy to carry. The screen size of Netbook is 8~ 12 inches which is the least limit of the laptop. On the features, part Netbook is also weaker. Like, it does not contain a CD/DVD drive. Due to less space, the numbers of ports may be less in Netbook. Usually, the battery life of Netbook is also less than that of the laptop. There are some common features in Netbook and Notebook like hard disk RAM, Operating System. All the companies those are providing notebooks are coming with their Netbook due to an increase in their popularity. Is the price range varies from $300~$1000? If you want a handy device like Netbook and features like Computer Notebooks then you need not worry, many companies like ASUS, Dell and Sony are continuously upgrading their Netbook’s to give all features like notebooks.
The nettop is a new term in the tech world; it is a condensed version of Desktop. The nettop is small box contains Atom processor, hard disk and USB, LAN, VGA ports. Like Netbook Nettop does not contain CD/DVD drive due to less space. The nettop is so smaller that it can hide behind your LCD screen. As Nettop is new only few companies are providing Nettops i.e. Sony, Dell, Acer. It's cost you so what around $400.
We have discussed 3 N’s but still you some doubt that which gadget suits you best. Let’s solve this dilemma. If you are a user with normal official and personal usage and don’t want to speed more bucks then you should buy a notebook. If you are a user want to you a portable gadget of giving a presentation to your customers or to your superiors regularly then you need some handy like Netbook. And if you are technology hunger and want to take a full excitement of Gaming, latest software and movies then you should surely go for a Nettop.
